Pupiokoli Soldier Concept 1

Description

Concept art for a soldier of the desert realm of Pupiokoli as found in The Shadow of the Dog Lord Anthropomorphic Fantasy Roleplaying Game.

The jackals of Pupiokoli are very Egyptian inspired, so their armor and their weapons are very advanced for their culture. They carry standard khopesh swords, as well as polearms that bear similar blades, as well as composite bows. Their shield design, if you can make it out (it's very sketchy, I know) is a stylized vulture or other such carrion bird, which I think will be made into their heraldry.

I don't know what colors to make them yet, but several concepts are floating in my mind, ranging from black to off-white and many reds, blues, purples, and indigo's in between. Their armor is fashioned in bronze, that much I know, with a collar with turquoise and bronze both, and bronze lames covering the stomach and arms, with a bronze helmet. Their legs are merely bandaged and swathed in robes.

And yes, they wear no armor on their chest. That's one of the wonderful things about designing the bad guys. I'm allowed to be brutal, giving them a more tribal design and making them look very raw and savage. It's almost like he's tempting you..."Come on, I'm armored up to a point but, you know, my heart is open. Just try it."

Enjoy!

Interesting design, kinda makes me think of South Asian and Native American cultures, mixed in quite nicely I might add. It almost looks like he salvaged some of his gear and clothing.
